Lorraine Buhannic
Talent Leader & Executive Coach
My official bio would tell you that I was born in Paris and moved to New York City when I was 15. I graduated from Dartmouth College, where I discovered a passion for identifying potential while working in the college’s admission’s office. After graduation, I returned to New York as a recruiter in the finance industry. I spent five years recruiting for three major financial institutions before moving into tech. I took a job on AppNexus’ recruiting team and spent the next six years helping the company grow from 150 to 1,200 becaming the company’s Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition and managing a team of 25. I then joined Squarespace as the Director of Talent Acquisition and Development, where I stood up the company’s enterprise Learning & Development team, led the Recruiting team to hire ~700 people and shaped the company’s first Diversity & Inclusion strategy. These days, I am the Chief People Officer at Orchard, one of the fastest growing companies in the tech real estate space. Since joining the team in November of 2019, I stood up our People & Recruiting teams and helped Orchard scale from 80 to over 900 employees around the country while maintaining strong employee engagement and nurturing our culture. I also put my corporate experience to work as an executive coach and consultant for individuals and companies. I am a member of the International Coaching Federation and a certified Co-Active Coach through the Co-Active Training Institute.
My unofficial bio also would include that I'm the eldest of 5 siblings, a passionate home-cook and farmer's market devotee, a fan of crossword puzzles and a Brooklynite. There are few things I enjoy more than planning my next trip and bringing my community together for a meal.
As a recovering perfectionist, I’m a firm believer in the power of vulnerability. Brené Brown’s idea that “vulnerability is the birthplace of human connection” transformed my life perspective, and in coaching I create space for clients to tap into their own vulnerability as a path to greater self-awareness. By doing the work of deepening self-understanding, I strive to enable clients to live the fullest expression of who they are, to lead and live with confidence.
